| Climate Change and Environmental Pollution |
The accepted theory of current global warming trends is that there is an increasing concentration of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. This is caused by the increasing use of fossil fuels. Quite simply, the more materials we consume , the more energy we use, the hotter our planet gets .In order to protect our environment we have to reduce our energy consumption. It will not be enough simply to use less fuel in our cars .The energy used to make the car in the first place vastly outweighs the energy used to power it for our lifetime. We have to reduce our overall consumption of consumer goods.
Batteries have the additional problem of causing residual damage to the environment due to the chemicals used in their manufacture, which are very harmful to the ecology of our planet .Most people use batteries in many household and personal electronic devices. Once the conventional batteries are exhausted then they are simply thrown away. The chemicals they contain find their way into the soil and watercourses of our planet through conventional waste disposal methods. Rechargeable batteries reduce this effect 100-fold but have the disadvantage that they have to be recharged by an external charging unit .Since most devices have different battery sizes and different charging connections this means that we have to use several different charging units to charge our torch , camera, mobile phone and portable music devices etc. When traveling for pleasure or on business this becomes a major problem. The Purssang Energy Transfer Box can be used to minimise the effect of battery pollution and energy consumption.
"it seems extraordinary that there it is, coming straight off the sun and yet we haven't been able to trap it; that we can go to the moon but we haven't been able to do that does seem unbelievable" - Sir David Attenborough commenting on the lack of use of solar energy at the start of the BBC Saving Planet Earth season. |
